About
Pixcup Brew Co is a coffee shop that combines the world of artisanal coffee with the nostalgic charm of old-school 8-bit gaming in a unique way. The establishment offers a cozy and welcoming space where coffee lovers and retro-gaming enthusiasts can come together. The coffee shop provides a wide array of high-quality coffees, as well as a selection of vintage video games and consoles, which fosters a sense of community where customers can enjoy their favorite coffee while reliving cherished gaming memories.
Challenge
Pixcup Brew Co faced the challenging task of communicating its identity as both a coffee shop and a retro gaming hub. Unfortunately, the existing brand identity failed to fully capture the unique fusion of these two elements. As a result, the brand's visual language lacked cohesion, making it difficult for Pixcup Brew Co to stand out in a highly competitive market and attract its target audience of coffee lovers and gamers.
Solution
To address this challenge, Sketchy Digital embarked on a comprehensive redesign of Pixcup Brew Co.'s visual identity, focusing on creating a seamless blend of artisanal coffee and retro gaming aspects. The new design incorporates elements of 8-bit graphics and extraordinary color tones, establishing a strong and recognizable brand identity.

Logotype
Pixel perfect
The coffee shop has a cool theme inspired by 8-bit games, which have continued to be popular over time. The logo is designed to look like a die from these games, with a pixelated and solid appearance.

Typography
Typeface quest
The chosen primary font for the cafe should reflect its visual themes. Thus, Press Start 2p, a pixel font, was selected to create a nostalgic atmosphere of 8-bit games and bring uniqueness to the project. On the other hand, the body font is more straightforward. Montserrat was selected for its legibility and readability, making it easy to comprehend.

Colors
Like no other
The coffee shop's color scheme deviates from the usual brown and beige shades associated with coffee. We opted for colors from a different associative range. Our project consists of 2 primary colors and 3 accent colors. The purple accent represents creativity, freedom, and expression–qualities coffee lovers share. Orange symbolizes the sun, the morning, and the warmth every sip of coffee provides. Red represents the energy that coffee imparts to its drinkers at any time of the day.

Packaging
Modern nostalgia
Our packaging design focused on a modern, eye-catching appearance with a memorable visual. We chose pixel icons to align with the coffee shop's theme and better represent our product to potential buyers. The 8-bit typographical elements add to the visual appeal and bring a sense of reality to the world of pixels. The font is reminiscent of freshly printed ink, where letters appear slightly faded, giving a modern and authentic feel.
The Medium Roast is a coffee that strikes the perfect balance between rich flavor and smoothness. It captures the essence of coffee and offers a well-rounded taste with subtle complexity. The coffee bean icon represents the most authentic form o coffee–perfectly balanced, just like the medium roast, which is the heart of the coffee experience. The coffee bean symbolizes purity, authenticity, and a perfectly balanced taste.
The Dark Roast is all about depth
and intensity and is the perfect choice for an energizing morning start or a powerful pick-me-up. The lightning bolt icon signifies the powerful and dynamic nature of the dark roast. It embodies the striking, intense flavor that jolts your senses, much like a bolt of lightning. This coffee offers a bold and exhilarating experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated.
The Light Roast is a perfect choice for those who enjoy a smooth and invigorating cup of coffee. The smile icon symbolizes the bright and cheerful characteristics of the light roast, conveying its pleasant, relaxed nature that brings a touch of joy to your day, much like a gentle smile.
This packaging has been designed to serve as both a container and an extension of the brand's story. Each unique format, complete with its pixel icons and typographical elements, plays a crucial role in bringing the nostalgic joy of 8-bit gaming into the modern-day coffee shop experience.
